FireFit Individual
& Team Competition
All teams and individuals are welcome to compete. All events are open. Teams
and individuals eligible to compete for the Regional Byes
in this Regional are those Departments from
Alberta, The Yukon, North West Territories & Nunavut.
Competitors from other Countries are welcome to compete for a
International Bye to the FireFit Championship Finals to be held in
Quinte West, Ontario, September 11th to 14th.
The First Place Individual in each Category receives a Bye to Final Day
of the FireFit Finals in Quinte West, Ontario. Team times of 9 minutes
or less qualifies a team to compete on one of the 'Wild Card Days'
during The Finals in Quinte West. The top 14 Teams from the two 'Wild
Card Days' will move on to Final Day in Quinte West.
FireFit Relay
The Top 62 Ranked Relay Teams from ALL Regionals held in 2008 will earn
a spot on Final Relay Day (Sunday) at the FireFit Finals being held in
Quinte West, Ontario.
FireFit NxG2 Relay
The Fastest NxG2 Relay Team from each Regional Event, qualifies for a
'NxG2 Bye' on the Relay Finals Day (Sunday) at the FireFit Finals in
Quinte West, On. NxG2 Relay Teams with a time of 2:30 or less qualify
to compete in the NxG2 'Wild Cards' held on Wild Card Days (Thursday
& Friday). The top 10 NxG2 Teams from the 2 Wild Card Days will
move on to the NxG2 Finals (Sunday) in Quinte West, Ontario.
Hot Happenings
Edmonton will keep you busy from arts and culture to shopping and sports, the choices are endless! Any trip should start with West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest entertainment and shopping complex and home to over eight hundred shops. Beyond shopping, the 48 square-block-large complex offers numerous cinemas, the World Waterpark, an ice arena, an indoor amusement park, sea lions, and a hotel - in case you don't get through everything in one day!
In the Downtown Arts District, you can catch a play at the Citadel, Canada's largest non-profit theatre, check out great Albertan and international art at the Art Gallery of Alberta, or hear for yourself the phenomenal acoustics of the Winspear Centre, home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. And beyond the high art, Edmonton is buzzing with grassroots and independent art and music. Plus, the Royal Alberta Museum is just one of the many museums that chart Alberta's history. And don't forget about catching an Edmonton Oilers game, or checkng out some of the other professional sports teams in town!
After all of that, don't think you need to leave the city to get away from the cityscape. In the heart of Edmonton is the River Valley, a lush green belt that is Canada's largest urban park. Hundreds of kilometres of maintained trails and facilities permit year-round activity; hiking, running, cycling, roller-blading, plus cross-country skiing and ice skating in the wintertime.
Whether you're looking to sip a lager while a singer-songwriter strums onstage, catch a stadium-sell-out-rock show or just dance all night, you can plan on staying up late in Edmonton. On any night of the week, you have your pick of concerts, dancing, theatre, gallery openings or clubbing. Take a tour down Whyte Avenue to sample the beers and bars - just don't forget that it's also great for theatre and live music. Or visit Edmonton's vibrant Downtown Arts District for some culture before heading out to the club. Or just head to the club. It's your choice.

From Airport North: on QE#2, turns into Gateway Blvd. Follow Gateway all the way to University Ave (right before 76th Ave.) Turn Left on University Ave. and left into the Day's Inn parking lot!
From the West: Yellowhead Trail to right on Anthony Henday. From Anthony Henday, take the right exit to Gateway Blvd. Follow Gateway to University Ave. Turn Left on University and left into the Day's Inn parking lot.
From the East: Yellowead Trail to Hwy. 21. Go South on Hwy. 21 till you come to Whitemud Dr. Turn Right onto Whitemud Dr. Follow to Gateway Blvd. Turn right onto Gateway Blvd. Follow to University Ave. Turn Left into Day's Inn parking lot.
